"Doesn't remind me"

Chris Cornell-AUDIOSLAVE

I walk the streets of Japan till I get lost
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
With a graveyard tan carrying a cross
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like studying faces in a parking lot
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like driving backwards in the fog
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything

[Chorus]
The things that I've loved the things that I've lost
The things I've held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn what I'll need to forget

I like gypsy moths and radio talk
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like gospel music and canned applause
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like colorful clothing in the sun
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like hammering nails and speaking in tongues
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything

[Chorus]
The things that I've loved the things that I've lost
The things I've held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn what I'll need

Bend and shape me I love the way you are
Slow and sweetly Like never before
Calm and sleeping We won't stir up the past
So discreetely We won't look back

[Chorus]
The things that I've loved the things that I've lost
The things I've held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn what I'll need

I like throwing my voice and breaking guitars
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like playing in the sand what's mine is ours
If it doesn't remind me of anything

What are we missing by not being you at Falcons games?
The Great Falconi: I'm in my 14th year as the Great Falconi. [At first] I was misunderstood. [Management] thought I was a danger. I had too much power over the crowd. Now the team respects me and appreciates my presence. Arthur Blank gave me the thumbs up. If you get the thumbs up from the head cheese, I guess you're OK.

NFL 2006 ATS FOOTBALL CHALLENGE .500!

The results are in my friends.
I went 9-6-1 in my picks last week enabling me to finish at an even .500 for the year with an overall record of 128-121-7.

A hard fought season.
Now I can rest throughout the playoffs, lick my beer, and heal.

Joe's early take on the playoffs:

Wild Card round:

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS 61/2 Kansas City Chiefs
INDY

Can K.C. play ball control and milk the clock on offense by running Larry Johnson keeping Manning and Co. off the field? In spite of Herm Edwards toughness and love for the D, K.C. doesn't have the pass D to handle a shootout and would have to rely on key turnovers to keep it close. Indy is the only team to give up 100+ yard rushing in all 16 games this season. I like their explosiveness, take Indy @ home.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 3 Dallas Cowboys
Dallas
Both teams limped into the playoffs and while Seattle is at home I like Dallas just enough in an upset so take the FG and run.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES 6 1/2 New York Football VaGIANTS
PHILLY
Eagles are on a roll with last 5 games and I don't see the lackluster VaGiants stopping them or covering here. Game plan will be to run Tiki run but Eagles won't let themand Eli will have to win one at the Linc, not likely.

NEW ENGLAND 9 New York Jets
NY Jets *

Revenge game for Bellicheck, it's the playoffs, in Foxboro, and Brady to win the game but I think the Jets D will keep it within a TD so take the points.

NOIR CD

For those of you lucky enough to have been inflicted with another of my cheap-ass compilation cd gifts, here is the method behind my selections. For the rest of you, better luck next Christmas....

1. noir- richard widmark
Short monologue by noir film badman that perfectly explains my love for the medium and my theory of life....

2. Peter Gun- Sarah Vaughn/Max Sedgely remix
Sarah Vaughn never sounded sassier and the Sedgely remix makes Mancini sound even cooler, no mean feat.

3. Futures- Zero 7
Kind of gentler, pastoral electronic sound from one of the earlier downtempo bands latest album.

4. Have Love Will Travel- The Blue Van
Apparently I have performed this song during drunken karaoke but have no recollection of it. Not surprisingly, it fits my screaming range, hence inclusion.

5. Down On The Street- The Stooges
There is something sinister about the sound of this one and the lyrics are vintage Iggy-
"Down on the street I'm lost in love...."

6. Strange Days- Doors/Thievery Corp. remix
Turning Morrison into dance music, way cool, by my favorite band/dj's/record label.

7. Making Me Crazy- June Christy
I discovered this album 3+ years ago coming out of the alcoholic haze of a divorce and promptly lost it in the subsequent move(s).
Now it all seems clear and makes sense....

8. Crooked Teeth- Death Cab For Cutie
Great lyrics about co-dependency and how all mandibles are not equal.

9. Jail Guitar Doors-The Clash
Just straight ahead kickass "punk"rock, clang clang indeed.

10. Time Out From The World-Goldfrapp
This song sounds like a cut from a classic James Bond soundtrack, The campaign to have Goldfrapp do the next Bond theme starts right here.

11. El Manana- Gorillaz
Surprisingly affecting and emotional song from a "joke" band.

12. Early To Bed-Morphine
Included here for 2 reasons
(1) For a slow tempo shuffle song, it rocks!
(2) When Noel was getting married eons ago in L.A. I tried to convince the GA contingent to go see this new band "Morphine" who are creating a serious buzz melding jazz and rock but everyone was being lame.
Now, 13 + years later Noel is divorced and the lead singer/horn player died in the middle of a show of a drug induced heart attack in Rome in 1999.

13. I'm Only Sleeping- The Beatles
While everyone thinks this is a druggy Beatles song, the first draft of Lennon's lyrics for "I'm Only Sleeping", written on the back of a letter from 1966, suggest that he actually was writing about the joys of staying in bed rather than any drug euphoria. In fact, Lennon loved staying in bed, and when he wasn't sleeping, he would sit in it and read, write, or watch television. In fact, in a March 1966 interview with Maureen Cleave, the same interview in which Lennon stated, "We're more popular than Jesus now," Cleave said, "He can sleep almost indefinitely, is probably the laziest person in England."
Interestingly, during the break before the second bridge at about 1:57 minutes into the song, a barely audible voice (probably John's) can be heard saying, "Yawn, Paul." Following this, the slightly more audible sound of Paul yawning can be heard at about 2:00 minutes into the song.

Amen

14. This Place...-The Postal Service
Great lyrics and the emotional payoff is exquisite, we have all been there.

15. Bom Bom Bom-The Living Things
My youngest, Riley, loves this song and he rocks!

16. Chelsea- Stefy
2006 pop that has an 80's feel, this I dig.
www.myspace.com/stefy

17. Black Is the Color- Nina Simone/Jaffa remix
Something beautifully mournful and melancholy about this (Nina Simone, so yeah...) but the remix makes it move me more.

18. Female of the Species- Space
There is some weird cabaret in my future where I will be a mad lounge singer and this song, my friends,
will be my signature song. Just you wait.

19. Stormy- The Meters
Thanks to Rich for turning me onto the funky and tasteful METERS.
Taking cheese 60's pop and making it special.

20. The Boxer-Chemical Brothers
Sometimes you just need a reason to rock it out and still be able to dance.
Thanks Chemical Brothers

21. My Friends- Red Hot
Great mournful singing, rare for a pop band.

22. Cavatina- Charlie Byrd/Washington Guitar Quintet
Song I found on a Quiet jazz sampler 9 years ago.
Was played in the delivery room at the birth of both my sons so, yeah, it means something to me.
